The Mighty Macs
Starring Carla Gugino, Ellen Burstyn
In theaters Oct. 21 Rated G, 98 min.
Here’s a rare feel good sports film based on the incredible true story of the 1971-72 Immaculata College team that started in obscurity but became the original Cinderella story in women’s basketball.
Cathy Rush (Gugino) is a 23-year-old former tomboy. On the brink of giving up on herself, she takes one final shot at her dream and becomes Immaculata’s head coach. With the help of nuns, she finds the courage and faith to lead her team along a brave journey at winning a national championship.
Legatus founder Tom Monaghan previewed the film: “The Mighty Macs is a must see — not only for sports fans, but for everyone. It is exciting, inspiring, heart-warming and just wonderfully entertaining … It is a great movie that you do not want to miss!”
