Legatus is pleased to announce the appointment of Don Mucci to its Board of Governors. Don is a distinguished emeritus member of the Louisville chapter of Legatus; he and his wife, Caryn, have been active members of Legatus for seven years. Thanks to Don’s passion for Legatus’ mission and his unwavering commitment to the organization, he was nominated for this prestigious role.
Former Legatus Board Member Mike McCartney expressed his enthusiasm for Mucci's new role in his nomination: “Can't say enough about him. Don has outstanding character and an excellent track record with Legatus. He’s ‘retired’ but still busy. He has ‘Legatus’ in his bone marrow. His chapter is a model chapter.”
Don strives to make his Catholic faith a defining aspect of his identity. He is a lifelong Catholic and attended Catholic schools from primary school through college. Don served for 18 years on the Board of Overseers at St. Meinrad School of Theology. He also served on Bellarmine University's Board of Trustees, Overseers, and Alumni Boards, and also received their Alumnus of the Year award in 2004. Additionally, Don served on the Alumni Board of St. Xavier High School and also received the St. Francis Xavier Award, its highest honor, from the Xavierian Brothers for his contributions to the school. Don has served on the Board of Directors of Summit Academy, an independent school for children with learning differences. Finally, he has served on several parish councils and finance councils. He and his wife, Caryn, have three children and four grandchildren.
In Legatus, Don has held several key positions in the Louisville chapter. Most notably, he served as president from 2017 to 2019. Don likewise has received several other recognitions, including the 2021 Southeast Membership Chair of the Year, the 2018 Founder Award, the 2018 Great Lakes Region Ace of the Year, and the 2017 National Ace of the Year.
“We are grateful for Don’s faithful leadership with Legatus, and we look forward to benefiting from the experience and insight Don will no doubt bring to the Board,” said Laura Sacha, chief operating officer at Legatus.
