To my fellow Legates, I extend a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year on behalf of myself and the board of governors.
While 2021 presented challenges and extraordinary circumstances for all of us, hopefully it has been a time of rediscovering what is truly important: renewal of faith in the Lord, and perseverance through uncertainty. My wife, Molly, and I have enjoyed extra time with our five grown children that likely would not have occurred in a normal year, and discovered opportunities to serve the Church that we may not have otherwise considered. These have been great blessings to us and to our family.
If 2021 was a year of recovery and rehabilitation from Covid-19 and the associated impacts, I believe strongly that 2022 will be a year of restoration. In fact, there is nothing I am more hopeful about right now than Legatus’ trajectory in 2022. We are perfectly positioned for a breakthrough year, and I invite you to be part of all that the Lord has in store for us. We look forward to a full schedule of pilgrimages, Summits, and special events all designed to bring our members closer to God. We will continue boldly pursuing our mission of growing together in faith and spreading it to everyone around us.
I am so proud of how we have stuck together in recent times. For many reasons, Legatus was particularly threatened by the Covid pandemic, but we weathered the storm admirably. We chartered new chapters, launched new forums, recruited hundreds of new members, and perpetuated our major events regardless of the headwinds. The state of our organization is undeniably strong. I admit that initially I was concerned about the effect that Covid could have on our membership, but thanks to our national staff, we maintained overwhelmingly strong renewals throughout the pandemic. We are extremely blessed by the team that our president and our chairman have assembled. I would like to thank the entire group for their incredible work.
Prior to joining the board of governors, I was fortunate to serve as president of the Pittsburgh Chapter. This is the busiest season for our chapter officers as they plan for the new year and closely monitor member renewals which make chapter life possible. If you have not already done so, please consider renewing your membership today, and know that it is sincerely appreciated by all of us on the national board as well as by your chapter officers.
It has been said many times that Legatus is “made for such a time as this.” I wholeheartedly agree, and I also know that Legatus is built for the times ahead. We need one another now more than ever! Thank you for allowing me to serve as vice chairman and for all that you do to build the Kingdom of God here on earth in preparation for the one to come.
CHRISTOPHER McMAHONis vice chairman on Legatus’ board of governors.
