The mission of Legatus is for members to live as ambassadors for Christ in the marketplace—to study, live, and spread the Catholic faith in all areas of their personal, business, and professional lives. Each year, Legatus recognizes an Ambassador of the Year, a member who embodies this mission of the organization and whose exemplary service and authentic witness of faith have transformed their workplace and community.
For 2024, Legatus awards the honor of Ambassador of the Year to Chris and Molly McMahon, founders of the Mary’s Place Maternity Home. Chris is also president and CEO of MFA Wealth and Aquinas Wealth Advisors. The Ambassador of the Year award is a testament to their leadership, professional expertise, and commitment to grow and share faith with others.
“It is an honor to not only be a member [of Legatus] but to be recognized with this award,” said Chris McMahon. “Legatus has been transformational for me on my faith journey. You are who you surround yourself with, and there is no organization where that is truer than Legatus.”
Chris McMahon has more than 30 years of experience in financial planning and values-based investing. He founded MFA Wealth in 1986, one of Pennsylvania’s leading investment firms, and expanded his impact by launching Aquinas Wealth Advisors in 2020. McMahon frequently appears on Catholic and secular media to offer insights on personal finance and faith-based investing. In addition, McMahon is very involved in his community and serves as a board member for several educational, municipal, and religious institutions and foundations.
Molly McMahon is a 1987 graduate of Duquesne University. She currently serves on the boards of Gift of Mary, Mary’s Place Maternity Home, and Little Sisters of the Poor Pittsburgh. Additionally, she is a member of the Franciscan University Board of Trustees and formerly served on the board of St. Lucy's Auxiliary to the Blind.
Molly and Chris live in Pittsburgh and have five grown children.
In his nomination, Stephen Henley, president of Legatus, shared, “Aside from serving on the Board of Governors and as Vice Chair, Chris is involved heavily in his own community through a crisis pregnancy home, the Sisters of Mary, the Sisters of Life, and a for-profit in support of life and Catholic values. Chris and Molly are doing everything ideal members could do for their chapter and fellow members.”
The McMahons will be honored for this achievement at the 2025 Legatus annual National Summit, where they will be presented with the award in the presence of fellow members.
