Sean Magennis, president of CEO Coaching International, will be a presenter at the 2022 Men’s Enclave on October 25-28 at The Broadmoor Cloud Camp in Colorado Springs, CO. Magennis is originally from South Africa and emigrated to the United States in 1990 at the age of 25. He has owned three businesses since, in the areas of human resources, finance, and electricity generating and consulting.
Magennis lives in Dallas, but his firm is headquartered in Miami. It has an international client list, with most clients located in the U.S. and Canada. Services include coaching calls, quarterly alignment sessions, annual planning sessions, and profile assessments.
Sean is Catholic and has been married 24 years to his wife, Maria, with whom he has an adult daughter.
What do you plan to speak about at the Enclave?
I will talk about how coaching can help executives build more successful businesses, and how they can still have a growth mindset in these recessionary times. Who knows where our economy will be at the end of October during the Enclave? We will certainly still be in the midst of a heavy disruption.
I will lead participants in the “Crystal Ball” exercise in which they take a look into the future to the end of next year and learn how to build healthy organizations. We’ll have 20 minutes of talking concepts, and then 20 minutes of Q&A.
What experience and qualifications do you bring to this gathering of leading Catholic executives?
I am a seasoned businessperson of 30 years and a lifelong Catholic. I sit on the board of the Young Catholic Professionals organization, and I’ve been very engaged with the Catholic community on the youth side.
What experiences have you had with Legatus?
I’ve been an advisor to Tom Monaghan for 12 years. I also have friends who are legates.
Tell me about CEO Coaching International.
We are a group of 64 seasoned CEOs. Every one of us has run a business in excess of $100 million. We have an extraordinary framework to help businesses grow at any stage, and we exceed the national average in terms of revenue and profit. Clients who stay with us two or more years have experienced an average revenue compound annual growth rate of 25.5 percent, nearly twice the U.S. average, and EBITDA CAGR (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization compound annual growth rate) of 67.8 percent, more than four times the national average. Our coaching process has led many of our clients to achieving successful eight- and nine-figure exits.
What kind of coaching do CEOs typically seek from your firm?
The biggest pain points in organizations are people and improving business processes. It’s important to have the right people in the right seats, as well as the right rhythms, methods, and processes in place. It will make the organization more valuable overall and offer a substantial financial return should the business be sold.
Who would benefit from hearing your presentation?
Anyone leading a business knows how lonely it is and how difficult it is to surround yourself with people who can give you candid feedback. I believe my presentation is for anyone who wants to know how to thrive during difficult times, structure their businesses, and build the right teams. I have experience in starting, building, growing, and selling organizations, as well as the experience of running significant international businesses, both for profit and not for profit. I am a student of people and businesses, and I try to bring my faith into every interaction I have.
What else would you like to share about yourself?
I am a fan of Formula 1 racing, travel, museums, music, and entertainment. I am a “family first” individual, and I love helping young people and aspiring entrepreneurs fulfill their dreams.
